Come on a Tour with Me…

As time ticks by, we all are trying to find what normalcy will look like this summer.  There are so many unknowns.  What about summer ball leagues, camping, public pools, or just sitting on the patio at a local establishment drinking a few with your besties.  I ask myself sometimes, maybe I should just pack up my family and head to the beach and try to escape this crazy pandemic?

Even though I love dreaming of sandy beaches and carefree days, there is a special feeling of accomplishment when I get to check off items on my farm to do list!  I can not wait to share my harvest with you all! So here is a sneak peek of what has been happening in the last few weeks.  I have received more dahlias in the mail, planted more crops in the field, and I’m already planning and ordering for 2021 spring crops!....(AKA ranunculus, anemones, and tulips! Eeek!!)

I wanted to give you all a preview of some of the varieties we are growing this summer!  I am so excited to introduce our dahlia line up!  We have 16 different varieties ranging from dinnerplate varieties such as Cafe au Laite to smaller varieties such as Mary Lou.  Dahlias create a statement of elegance and freshness in any arrangement and are long-lasting!  I truly have a special place in my heart for these!

We also will have a host of beautiful sunflowers to fill anyone’s kitchen table or office!  We grow specialized sunflower varieties that have a shorter growth habit and provide a more compact flower.   There is something about a sunflower that says summer!  Their faces are always happy even if they are kept past their prime for a dried arrangement!  My personal favorite is the White Lite! What’s yours?

This next flower is a classic that is making it back into the world of floral design and that my friends are the strawflowers.  They have such a long vase life and when summer is over, they hold their color and look fantastic in dried arrangements.  I love texture in my arrangements and bouquets and that is exactly what strawflowers create.  They are that perfect touch of old fashion farmhouse garden flower.

I could go on and on about the varieties of flowers I have planned for you all, but there isn’t a blog long enough for that!  To see a full list of flowers that we offer and varieties we are adding in the next few years, please check out this link!

So let me leave you with a few from the support crew! These flowers just can’t stand of their own, but when you add them to front runners like dahlias or sunflowers, they create the bit of whimsy and character the arrangement is begging for!

Love-in-the-Mist is two-fold; great airy foliage and beautiful flowers. A supporting actor award winner for sure!  What can I say about amaranthus??  This flower can create a whole new vibe by adding it to any bouquet!  And finally, Dark Purple Basil. Now.. I know what you are thinking...really basil?? But hear me out... the color, the texture, the aroma.. it is perfect for any summer party decoration!

Thanks for joining me on this little tour!  I hope you all enjoyed it!  Also, just another little tidbit, before I go.  Once I have a better idea of harvest yields, we will be offering a 4-week summer bouquet subscription for all of you that love having a fresh bouquet of flowers to adorn your home or business!  This would be a great gift to yourself or a friend! Sign up on my website at to receive personal emails from me.  These bouquet subscriptions will be limited and email prescribers will be the first to find out the details!

And finally, thank you from the bottom of my heart!  I truly appreciate all the kind words, support, and encouragement!  It means more than you will ever know! I cannot wait to share my farm with you all!  The farm may not have sandy beaches that my kids and I dream about, but it does have a passion for something more and the winds blow love and carefree that roam through our hills.

See you all soon!

Carrie
